My involvement with Boxers started in Queensland in 1962 when I purchased my first bitch from the Brandenberg line. Following a move interstate with the Defence Force, I acquired another two Boxers and a Bull Terrier, the three of which formed an effective wild pig hunting team. This activity cemented a clear understanding and appreciation of the strength, substance, agility and correct holding bite of the Boxer, characteristics that have featured in the Lambda breeding program to this day.
The involvement with Boxers continued and after a break due to overseas service, I teamed up with Arthur in the purchase of the Boxer bitch Landson Miss Pippa. This bitch excelled in the show ring and she became the first champion and the foundation of Lambda Boxers. The Lambda prefix was registered in 1979.
We have bred and exhibited with success both in All Breeds and Specialty shows since then. Our most notable Specialty win was taking out Best in Show with Gr Ch Beanken Starn Heaven under a specialist judge at the 6th Boxer National Specialty with an entry of 282 Boxers. Her sire Ch Lambda Whata Surprise was also a Specialty winner. We have also exported to Europe and New Zealand with some of those exports doing well in the show ring.
Our kennel has enjoyed significant success with breeding and showing, and we have tried to resist the 'fashions' that cross the show ring from time to time, preferring to stay with the balanced Boxer capable of performing the function it originally fulfilled.
Dogue De Bordeaux
Although we have had an interest in and liking for the Dogue De Bordeaux breed for quite some time, our direct involvement didn’t start until August 2003 when we whelped a litter for Ken and Kelli Weber of Oakview Kennels. We were very grateful to Ken and Kelli for allowing us to have two of the litter which we named Brutus and Blondie and had the pleasure of showing them through to their titles – Champions Oakview Dutchcourage and Oakview Going Dutch [ sire: Ch Zamadeus Garde D’Honneur Du Monde (Imp BLG), dam Ch Rinderkraal Holly ].
We purchased and successfully campaigned Durhamdogues Anastasia [ sire Ch Oakview Dutchcourage, dam Brytanskie Wini Chesta ] to her title and she also proved a ‘champion’ in the whelping box producing seven champions from two litters. Another great acquisition for us has been Ch Runderkraal Cherie Amour [ sire Maximilien Centurian (Imp UK), dam Runderkraal Miende Vlieg ].. Our thanks to Robyn and Leo Spierenburg for allowing us to have ‘Ruby’ who has been a consistent winner for us including three times winning Runner Up Best in Show at the All Mastiff Breeds Championship Shows. Quite an achievement for a Dogue De Bordeaux to win three 25 point Best of Breed certificates.
Although relatively new to the Dogue De Bordeaux world we look forward to doing what we can to promote and improve the breed.
We continue to breed and exhibit and have expanded our interest to include judging on the national and international stage.
